My kennelname, Mamres was registered in 1991. The first, the A- litter, was p&s minuature schnautzers. The story how I got involved with dobermans is maybe quite normal.. I wanted a big dog, a suitable companion for my miniature schnauzer and schnautzer. I never have been any grooming- loving person and therefor instead of getting a giant schnautzer I wanted something else with character, alert temperament but with an easy coat to take care of. By mere accident I found Lady´s
Trick Bambiina, quite a sad story in the beginning, but it turned
out to be the thing that led me to the breed that I nowadays feel like
"mine". When You read the story of "Bambi" including her children and grandchildren You will know how it all started with Mamres- dobermans. Our first doberman litter, our B-litter was born in 1993 That litter included FIN CH, HK2 Mamres Big Spender, "Max", that later became the first champion of our kennel. Many things have happened when the years went by. Times of success, happieness, good friends and a great spirit. But of course also times of difficulties, problems and misfortune.
The most difficult year was 2001. That year started with the loss of
my beloved JK1 Mamres Hazy Shade,
just started her tracking career and the only dog living with me. It
was followed by losing accidentally both our young import Xikko
van het Wantishof, and young Mamres
Kindred Kinsman. I took it so hard that my interest in everything dissapeared for a long time. Even when I got me a new dog; Mamres Kait Karlanda (at that time 3 years old) I thought I had lost the spirit for good. But, as You can see.. We're back ! In the future I will be happy if I´ll get as much as the past
has given me. The losts can´t be replaced, but all the information
at my knowledge can and will be used when I look forward in producing
some new Mamres dobermans. Aiming for health, character and pleasant exterior. Hoping to be able to find bloodlines and implement combinations that not only serves me in the occasional litter, not only serves just the dog owner in their own individual, but also makes and keeps our breed and the lines wider.
